About
I am a Professor of Economics at the University of Manitoba, based in Winnipeg Canada, with a PhD in economics from Washington University. I have been a visitor at the Central Bank of Brazil, University of Western Ontario, National Economics University (Hanoi), and Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg. Prior to academia I contributed to public policy through roles in Canada’s Accelerated Economist Program (now the Advanced Policy Analyst Program) and Department of Finance Canada.
My research spans macroeconomics, development, institutions, conflict, and defence economics, and my work has appeared recently in journals such as the Southern Economic Journal, Economic Modelling, Defence and Peace Economics, and the Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy.
I currently serve on the executives of the Canadian Development Economics Study Group , the Defence and Security Economics Workshop, and the editorial boards of Defence and Peace Economics and the Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy.
